In our classroom, we will create a word wall as the year progresses. Every other week, we will add high frequency words from the reading curriculum list to the wall. This list can be viewed at the bottom of this page. Your child will be expected to learn the definition, pronunciation, and spelling of each word added to the word wall. I will update the website with the five new word wall words each week. Please review these words with your child at home. I have displayed a comprehensive list of the sight words that we will learn by semester. It would be beneficial to start practicing these sight words as soon as possible, while focusing on 10 per week. Many of the Unit 1 sight words are repeats from the kindergarten list; therefore, your child should be familiar with them coming into first grade.
